Peachtree City

YOU'LL LOVE TO CALL IT HOME!

(Information provided by Ken Parker, Realtor, RE/MAX Around Atlanta Results)

One of the best kept secrets in the Southeastern United States, you can fully appreciate Peachtree City only by seeing it in person. No description really does justice to this unique and beautiful southern town. Click on Money Magazine to see why Peachtree City was ranked the 8th best place to live in the United States for 2005. Also see U.S. News & World Report to see why Peachtree City was ranked among 2007's top 10 places to retire in the U.S.  What follows is an attempt at describing what makes Peachtree City one of the best places to live -- anywhere!

MASTERPLAN COMMUNITY: Peachtree City is arguably the most successful masterplan city ever developed in the United States. It has earned much national recognition, including multiple awards as the "Country's Most Desirable Small Town". Peachtree City has been systematically developed to its present population of 36,000 and the expectation is that our maximum population will only be about 40,000. Peachtree City's residents have come from all over the country and, as such, this is not your typical southern town. Peachtree City is probably unlike anywhere else you've ever seen with its natural, aesthetic beauty. Its resort-like appearance reminds many of Hilton Head Island, SC. Many say that living in Peachtree City is like being on a continuous vacation. Most Peachtree City residents are genuinely passionate about their "finding paradise" here.

LOCATION: From Peachtree City, Hartsfield International Airport (one of the world's largest, busiest, and most efficient airports) is a 20-25 minute drive north. Downtown and midtown Atlanta are a 45 minute drive. North Atlanta's suburbs are a 50-60 minute drive. A four lane divided highway connects Peachtree City to the Interstate system just 8 miles away. Peachtree City traffic is generally light and traffic to the airport and downtown Atlanta is much lighter than the routinely clogged highways serving north Atlanta. In Peachtree City, you're far away from the congestion, crime, and problems of the big city. Yet you're close enough to take advantage of its employment opportunities, shopping, cultural events, and professional sports.

AESTHETIC BEAUTY: Strict adherence to a master plan for the continued development and growth of the city, coupled with strict ordinances prohibiting all sorts of things which could detract from the city's appearance, gives Peachtree City a unique, extremely attractive appearance. Preplanning, strict sign ordinances, underground utilities, shopping clustered generally off the major roads, preservation of trees, roadside and median plantings and landscaping, building no homes facing our busy streets, and preserving 25% of the land within the city limits as natural "green belt" never to be developed, all contribute to making Peachtree City one of the prettiest places you'll ever see.

HEALTH CARE: Over 100 general practitioners and specialists have offices in Peachtree City. There are 3 outpatient facilities, 3 regional hospitals nearby, and our own 110-bed Piedmont Fayette Hospital is just 3 miles from Peachtree City. Piedmont Fayette Hospital has been named one of the nation's Top 20 medium sized community hospitals. Peachtree City has access to LIFEFLIGHT emergency airlift service, operates an emergency ambulance service, and has 911-service for maximum protection.

LOW CRIME RATE: Peachtree City has been cited as having one of the lowest major crime rates of any city in its population range in the entire United States. You are likely to feel more secure about your family's safety here than anywhere else you might live. Our city police force is one of just 14 in Georgia that have been nationally accredited.

HOUSING: Peachtree City's 120-plus subdivisions offer homes of all styles in all price ranges. While there is limited new construction taking place, there is always a sizeable inventory of attractive resale homes on the market. While homes are available in virtually every price range, the average Peachtree City home sells for $291,700. Rental homes and apartments are also available.

PROPERTY TAXES: A simple rule of thumb for estimating Peachtree City property (real estate) taxes is to multiply the purchase price by 1.3%. For example, a Peachtree City home purchased for $300,000 would have annual taxes of about $3,900.

GOLFER'S PARADISE: Peachtree City has 4 excellent golf courses, Flat Creek, Braelinn, Planterra Ridge, and Whitewater Creek. Your membership gives you and your family full playing privileges at all 4 of these courses, and playing privileges at 17 other area courses, as well. All are very well maintained, challenging courses, which host tournaments such as the U.S. Open Qualifying. The membership entry fee (one time initiation) is just $750. Annual dues for the entire family are just $1,215 with nominal greens fees of $7.00 weekdays or $9.00 weekends. Member families may elect to pay annual dues of $2,223 and then pay no greens fees whatsoever. Dues may be paid monthly or annually. Excellent driving ranges, swimming pools, tennis courts and locker room facilities are located at each club.

CART PATHS: A unique feature is our network of over 90 miles of paved paths connecting virtually all areas of the city. These paths are used for walking, jogging, roller blading, bicycling, and golf carts. The natural setting of these paths, usually in city maintained "green belt" areas, makes their use both enjoyable and relaxing. The cart path system is one of Peachtree City’s most enjoyed amenities.

GOLF CARTS: A large number of Peachtree City residents, including non-golfers, own a golf cart, and make use of the cart path system for joyrides, shopping, or just getting around town. Our incidence of golf carts is second only to Palm Springs, CA.

TWO 250 ACRE LAKES: Visibly prominent in your travels throughout Peachtree City are two beautiful lakes available to residents for fishing, canoeing, and boating with battery operated motor.

SENIOR CITIZENS: A very active senior citizens organization conducts a wide range of group activities such as arts and crafts, bridge, bingo, swimming, choir, fund raisers, and the annual Seniors Olympics. A well-equipped 4,500 square foot senior citizen center serves as the headquarters for seniors' activities and also provides a daily gathering place for seniors to congregate. It's appropriately named "The Gathering Place".

RECREATIONAL AMENITIES: In addition to its golf courses, lakes, and cart paths, listed below are numerous amenities which enhance the quality of life in Peachtree City:

·         2000 Seat Outdoor Amphitheater. Hosting numerous acts such as Wayne Newton; Larry Gatlin & the Gatlin Brothers; Blood, Sweat & Tears; Atlanta Rhythm Section; Jan and Dean; The Everly Brothers; Art Garfunkel; The Coasters; Atlanta Pops Orchestra; K.C. and the Sunshine Band; Gordon Lightfoot; Little Anthony and the Imperials; Paul Anka; and Credence Clearwater Revisited.

·         Peachtree City Classic. An annual 5K and 15K road race held each October on the streets and cart paths of Peachtree City attracting over 3000 runners, including many nationally prominent competitors.

·         BMX Track. A professionally designed track open to the public. The track has hosted numerous competitions including the Nationals, which were covered by ABCs wide World of Sports.

·         Skate Board Ramp. Serious skateboarders may use the ramp provided at the city's 20-acre recreation center.

·         World Class Outdoor Tennis Center. A professionally managed 24-court facility, one of the finest in the Atlanta area, has been completed for the enjoyment of our residents, complimenting the numerous other tennis courts provided in several other city recreation areas. The center has 12 hard courts, 6 clay courts, and 6 covered courts.

·         4th of July Festivities. A full day of fun in the city begins with most of the city's residents turning out for a large parade, continues throughout the afternoon and evening with activities for the kids and music for the adults, and culminates with one of the best fireworks displays in the state of Georgia over Lake Peachtree.

·         Parks and Athletic Fields. A major commitment has been made in providing numerous city operated recreation centers throughout the city. The facilities include public swimming pools and numerous soccer fields, tennis courts, baseball diamonds, basketball courts, football fields, and playground equipment. An indoor field house and year-round aquatics center offer great facilities for the entire family.

·         Recreation Department Program. Each quarter, the city Recreation Department publishes a broad program of activities and courses for tots, children, teens, and adults. With over 75 local clubs and organizations, there's something for everybody!
